It’s been a sad week for the music world. By now, all of you have heard of Michael Jackson’s passing. And by now, you’ve heard the media weigh in on his impact on the world of music and his status as an icon.

He broke the color barrier on MTV. He fused motown grooves with popular music. And who can forget that moonwalk? In the words of MJ himself: Ow! (*grabs crotch suggestively*)

Jackson has been so influential, that many of his songs have found their way onto the show choir stage, which the Blawgirl performed on once upon a time.

JetBlue offers several 1-way fares starting at $29 as part of its Life’s A Beach Sale. According to DealNews, fares require an advance purchase of at least 14 days and must be booked by June 26 for travel between July 14, 2009 and October 6, 2009. Select prices are only good for travel on certain days of the week. Some other restrictions and blackout dates apply. The Blawgirl isn’t really one to wear accessories. Rings get in the way of typing or playing the piano. Earrings always seem to get stuck in her hair or in the weave of a sweater. Scarves get stuck in the car door or are attacked and chewed on by a curious doggie.

Don’t count on those loan forgiveness programs. You know that plan you have? You know. The one to go to law school in order to help people, and to not worry about student loan debt because, hey, those public service loan forgiveness programs will help you. Yeah. Turns out those might not be as reliable as you think.

Great news for those indebted: new federal loan programs. If you currently have or are planning on taking on huge student loans, a new federal program effective July 1 can help you deal with the debt. Some borrowers can even have their student debt forgiven after 10 years if they work in public service jobs. Not bad.

Since it was released in 1981, Journey’s power ballad “Don’t Stop Believing” hasn’t stopped making its way into the hearts and minds of believers the world around, karaoke bars and pop culture. The most recent television incarnation has been in the new Fox show Glee, a show about a ragtag group of high schoolers in show choir. (Deep dark secret No. 2: The Blawgirl did show choir all four years of high school.)
