Gadgets and Gear:
Recycle your old computer. Dell recycles your old Dell notebook or computer for free. Also, if you purchase a new notebook or computer, they will recycle your old system, regardless of the brand for free. Check out the program here. And here’s some information from the Environmental Protection Agency on how to recycle your old electronics.
- $550 notebook. JR.com has the Acer Aspire AS5535-6901 Athlon 64 X2 2GHz 15.6″ Widescreen Notebook for $549.99 with free shipping. (via DealNews)
- $550 notebook. Best Buy has the HP Pavilion dv4-1313dx Turion X2 2.2GHz 14.1″ Widescreen Notebook for $549.99 with shipping for $24.99 or opt for in-store pickup. (via DealNews)
- $650 notebook. Newegg.com has the HP Pavilion dv6-1030us Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz 16″ Widescreen Notebook for $699.99, but this $50 mail-in rebate brings the price down to $649.99 with free shipping. (via DealNews)

- $1,490 notebook. MacMall.com has the Apple MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz 13.3″ Notebook for $1,589.99 but this $100 mail-in rebate brings the price down to $1,489.99 with about $7 for shipping. (via DealNews)

Entertainment:
Studenthacks.org has a couple of interesting ways to recycle your old books. You can make a shelf out of them, trade them in, hide your money from the government in them your secret stash stuff in them, build a clock, etc. Check out the full list here.
- $46 teen vampire angst. Amazon.com has The Twilight Saga Box Set Hardcover Collection for $45.65 with free shipping. (via DealNews)
- iTunes free download. This week’s free iTunes download from Empire of the Sun sounds very retro, and isn’t really something I’d pay money for. But if you happen to like the Bee Gees, you might like the song “Walking on a dream”. And, hey, it’s free.
Odds and Ends:
- $20 raver’s delight. HandHeldItems.com has the LED Sound Activated EQ T-Shirt, a T-shirt with an embedded graphic equalizer, for $24.99, but coupon code “ledshirts” brings the price to $19.99 with $5.95 for shipping. The shirt looks like it’d be a great conversation starter, but could be a little bit annoying if a date were wearing it. Thankfully, you can shut the thing on or off (the shirt, not your date, sorry). Or, if you wanted to point out how shrill the other person you’re talking to is, you can subtly do so by turning this sucker on. Check it out in action!
If you didn’t catch the subtle, pop-culture reference in the heading for the item above, I recommend you also check this out.

I would not send a poor girl into the world, ignorant of the snares that beset her path; nor would I watch and guard her, till, deprived of self-respect and self-reliance, she lost the power or the will to watch and guard herself .
